This is where Sebastian’s experience as both a cabinetmaker and a golfer comes together in the best possible way.
About the Wood:
This project is the result of Sebastian’s thesis at Malmstens Liu, which focused on exploring the flexibility of wood and how to make the most of its natural elasticity. Based on our expertise and experience, we have chosen to work with Swedish ash. Traditionally, ash was also used for the shafts of classic golf clubs.
As you can see in the comparison chart, the differences between ash and hickory in terms of hardness, density, flexibility, impact resistance, and durability are minimal. One of the biggest differences, however, is weight: our alignment sticks weigh between 80 and 85 grams each, making them light, easy to handle and carry on the bag.

About Golf:
Rods are an important tool for training. When practising with irons, it is not essential for the rod to be perfectly straight; however, on the putting green, it is important for them to be as straight as possible.
Owning wooden sticks is a luxury and they require some care. They represent the combination of classic design and the authentic craftsmanship of a handmade product.
Wooden sticks will always tend to bend, depending on humidity, ambient temperature, or if they are stored incorrectly in the bag. Ekorre Golf alignment sticks are constructed from six pieces that form a hexagonal shape, similar to many bamboo fishing rods. This gives them a sort of “memory” that allows them to return to their straight shape. You can leave them on wet grass or even stick them into the ground if necessary; it is possible that the paint may get scratched a bit, which is almost inevitable and important for you to know, as it gives each stick a unique kind of character.
One advantage of wooden alignment sticks is that they will not scratch your woods if placed under the cover, as often happens. We prefer not to use a traditional stick cover, but rather a safety sleeve that keeps both sticks in place in the bag.
Rods made from a single round stick tend to bend, and it is very difficult to straighten them unless they have had prior treatment; even then, they are more likely to deform. This is not to speak poorly of other products, but simply how wood behaves. A bent stick is hard to make perfectly straight again; in contrast, a hexagonal rod can be rotated to find its straightest point.
